Joseph Lee

Joseph Lee has been with the Modiya project since its inception and was the main software engineer from 8/2004 to 8/2005.

Asked to join the project in August of 2004, the first task was to search for a suitable platform on which to launch the preliminary requirements of the Jewish Working Group. After experimenting with DSpace as an educational tool, next steps included installing and administering a webserver, setting up a PostgreSQL database, installing DSpace, and modifying the open source code to fit the requirements of Modiya.

Joseph then went on to become Modiya's main programmer, working closely with Tal Halpern, Nicola Monat-Jacobs, and Tiphaine Rabaux on design and specifications. Multiple add-ons and modifications ensued to develop the many features of Modiya we see today.

Joseph Lee hails from Chicago, Illinois. He holds a B.A. in Music from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master's in Computer Science from New York University.
