Abstract: In the months, weeks and days leading to the 2004 Presidential elections, left-leaning Jews mobilized volunteers to encourage elderly Jewish voters in Florida to register and get to poll stations. This logo -- featured on websites and postcards -- advertised this mission to young Jews across the United States.
Description: Operation Bubbe is an effort to recruit 100 Jews from safe states unhappy with the Bush administration to travel to South Florida for election day and the preceding weekend to help Jewish retirees to the polls. The participants will be volunteering with America Coming Together. Once in Florida, volunteers will participate in a variety of activities, including up to four days of GOTV work in the Jewish community, an Operation Bubbe volunteer party/pep rally, and a victory celebration after the polls close on election day. All volunteers will be trained before deployment. Operation Bubbe will not provide transportation to Florida, but will provide any other reasonable assistance necessary to enable all volunteers to participate fully, including transportation and lodging in South Florida. We will focus on helping Jewish seniors in selected condo associations and retirement communities, primarily in Palm Beach County. http://www.operationbubbe.com/index.php?section=article&album_id=0&id=1&PHPSESSID=5b9dfc29f025741b4e38bfd5c307b2af
