| Description: | "Death, Destruction, & Detroit II is the middle work in a trilogy, the first of which was staged in 1979. Death, Destruction, & Detroit II was presented on four separate stages at once, in the newly renovated Schaubühne Theater. The audience was seated on swivel chairs that allowed them to see the action in various directions. There was a glass elevator that moved up and down past the various levels of the set, and sliding panels revealed hidden areas. The central figure was Franz Kafka, whose works formed the basis of the text, but Wilson drew his materials from an eccelectic variety of sources and cultures. The work was performed by a large virtuoso cast from the permanent company of the Schaubühne." |
