Mark Slobin
Mark Slobin is Professor of Music at Wesleyan University and the author, editor, or translator of 14 books, including two which received the ASCAP-Deems Taylor Award (Tenement Songs: The Popular Music of the Jewish Immigrants, 1982 and Fiddler on the Move: Exploring the Klezmer World," 2000), one which was a finalist for the National Book Award (Chosen Voices:The Story of the American Cantorate) and one nominated for the Bernard Noss Prize of the Association for Theater Research ("Nineteenth-Century American Musical Theater, Vol XI: Yiddish Theater"). He has been president of the Society for Ethnomusicology and Society for Asian Music and edits the series American Musicspheres at Oxford University Press.
