Olga Gershenson
Olga Gershenson is an Assistant Professor of Judaic and Near Eastern Studies at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She earned her doctorate in the United States (UMass-Amherst), her master's degree in Israel (Hebrew University), and her bachelor's degree in Russia (Ural State). Her book Gesher: Russian Theatre in Israel; A Study of Cultural Colonization (Peter Lang, 2005) focuses on relations between Russian-Jewish immigrants and veteran Israelis, as they are reflected in Russian-Israeli Gesher Theatre , its history and controversial media reception. Her research in Israel cultural studies and critical ethnography has appeared in the Multilingua, Western Journal of Communication, Journal of International Communication, The Intercultural and International Communication Annual, among others. She is currently doing research on immigrant filmmakers in contemporary Israeli cinema. Her other research interests include gender studies and feminist discourse analysis.
