Mark Kligman

Mark Kligman is Associate Professor of Jewish Musicology at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York, where he teaches in the School of Sacred Music. An ethnomusicologist, he focuses on liturgical music, primarily of Sephardic communities. His dissertation (and forthcoming book) focuses on the Sabbath morning liturgical music of Syrian Jews in Brooklyn. He also studies contemporary Jewish music in both religious and non-religious communities.
