Creating Links
There a are 2 main categories of links:
- Link to something within dspace:
To create a link to a Unit or Topic, the link should be taken from the URL, and start from the '/dspace' portion of the link.
For example, a link to the Religious Travel unit:Religious Travel Unit
- Link to a page outside Dspace:
To create a link to something outside Dspace, you MUST use the full url. This includes the 'http://' portion.
For example:Link TextTo create a link that opens in a new window, just add extra 'target' information.
For example:Link Text
*Important Note:
Please do not put lots of text in between your link tags!
This can disrupt the layout of the entire page. It is much more common to use short descriptive text
that looks better and is more user friendly!
For example:
Search For Formats
Instead of this:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=format+article&btnG=Google+Search
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=format+article&btnG=Google+Search
Using Images
Follow these steps:
- First get the url of the image.
To get the link or URL for images that are already in MODIYA, find the Item page for that image,
click the 'view/open' link to open the image in a new window. Use the URL displayed in the new window, again
starting from the '/dspace' portion.
For example, first GET the bold portion of the url displayed:http://modiya.nyu.edu/modiya/bitstream/1964/208/1/HLstereo.jpg - Now use that portion in your html, to embed the image:

- This will display your image, but you will also probably want to make your image into a link.
In that case, follow the instructions above to link to an item page, and you should end up
with something like this:
>
-
To restrict the display size of that image, use:
You may specify height or width or both. Feel free to experiment to see what values work best for you. If you image is wider than the Modiya page, please place a restriction on its size.
